SAN FRANCISCO — A 57-year-old man was arrested earlier this week for allegedly threatening to plant a bomb in a South San Francisco police station and kill the officers one by one, a police sergeant said today.

The suspect, Gerardo Kelly, allegedly called the South San Francisco Police Department’s front desk about three times between 3 and 6 p.m. Monday and “was talking crazy” in the phone calls and accused police of lying, according to Sgt. Joni Lee.

Kelly eventually called San Francisco police and told them he was going to put a bomb in the South San Francisco police station and kill the officers, according to Lee.

San Francisco police notified South San Francisco police, and Lee said after she listened to a tape of the phone call several detectives were sent to Kelly’s home.

He was arrested at his home Monday for terrorist threats and threats on a police officer, according to Lee.

She added the situation was taken particularly seriously in light of the recent killings of police officers in Oakland and Pittsburgh.
