DENVER — A Denver officer was shot in the foot and a suspect killed during a burglary investigation, The Pueblo Chieftain reported.
The officer was hit in the foot and is expected to make a full recovery after the Monday shootout, police spokesperson Doug Schepman told the publication.
One burglary suspect was arrested while another was fatally shot after a short pursuit and gun battle.
The suspects tried to flee, carjacked a vehicle and led police on a short pursuit before losing control of the car. Officers stopped the suspects and exchanged gunfire. One suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
Video captured by witnesses shows police escorting the second suspect away from the fatal shooting. The suspect is heard screaming, “You killed my brother.”
The incident was under investigation.
