ALAMO, Tenn. — A man who was streaming on Facebook Live was fatally shot by police after allegedly attempting to strike officers with his vehicle.
Police said Rodney Hess, 36, was parked sideways blocking traffic when police approached his truck, KGW News reported. Hess allegedly refused officers’ commands, became “erratic,” and tried to use his vehicle to strike officers twice, Fox 13 reported.
In a video he streamed for nearly 20 minutes before police arrived, Hess can be seen shaking and acting odd before pulling his vehicle in the middle of the roadway. After a certain point, Hess drove down the road and parked in the middle of the roadway again, blocking traffic.

“During the escalation of events, at least one Crockett County deputy fired his service weapon through the front windshield of the vehicle driven by Hess, striking him,” TBI spokesman Josh DeVine said in a statement to CNN. “At this time, we do not believe Hess used a firearm in connection to this incident.”
Hess crashed his vehicle after he was shot and was airlifted to a local hospital where he later died, Fox 13 reported. No officers were injured.
Hess’ fiancee Johnisha Provost told KGW that Hess suffered from bipolar disorder.
An investigation is ongoing.
