ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Albuquerque police have released body camera footage capturing a tense traffic stop on Jan. 12.
According to KOAT 7, suspect Santiago Luna was stopped after an officer ran his plates and discovered he was driving in a stolen vehicle.
Luna provided a false name after being asked by the responding officer.
As seen in the video, Luna then reaches for the ignition and starts the car. The officer then deploys a TASER on the suspect.
Luna also reached for the officer’s gun during the ensuing struggle, according to the report. Police later found two holstered weapons on the suspect.
Luna was arrested on charges of possession of a firearm, receiving or transferring a stolen firearm, drug charges, battery on a police officer, and attempting to disarm a police officer, according to the report.
