CHESTER COUNTY, S.C. — A police pursuit in Chester County resulted in a dramatic airborne crash and a significant drug bust, WBTW reported.

The Chester County Sheriff’s Office stated that deputies initiated a traffic stop on July 11. The driver was found to have a suspended license, according to the report.

Bodycam footage shows officers asking the driver to exit his pickup truck, at which point he fled, leading to a pursuit. The footage does not show the entire duration of the pursuit but resumes to show the pickup making a wide right turn at high speed.

Following the wide turn, the driver struggled to regain control of the vehicle. The pursuit ended when the truck veered off the road, flipped and came to a stop. Deputies and K-9 Sammie apprehended the suspect without further incident.

A search of the vehicle uncovered approximately 112 grams of fentanyl, 56 grams of methamphetamine, $4,373 in cash and various pills believed to be controlled substances, according to the report. The driver was transported to the hospital for injuries sustained during the wreck and was later taken to the Chester County Detention Center.

The suspect faces multiple charges, including driving under suspension (third or subsequent offense), failure to stop for blue lights, trafficking fentanyl (28 grams or more), trafficking methamphetamine (28 grams or more) and possession with intent to distribute Schedule I-III substances, according to the report.

Chester County Sheriff Max Dorsey emphasized the significance of the fentanyl seizure.

“Considering that 2 milligrams of fentanyl equate to a potentially deadly dose, the amount of fentanyl seized today is estimated to be the equivalent of nearly 56,000 deadly doses,” Dorsey said. “The amount of fentanyl seized by Sheriff’s Deputies this morning could have been a fatal dose for nearly twice the number of citizens in Chester County.”
