JUAREZ, Mexico — Gunmen killed a Mexican federal police officer and shot up a Juarez police station in separate attacks.
Federal police officer Raul Ramos Castro and Erika Lorena Becerra were fatally shot Tuesday morning on a Juarez street, Chihuahua state police said.
Juarez officials said Wednesday that police were on alert after shots were fired at the Delicias police station. Authorities said that no one was injured and that an undisclosed number of attackers were detained.
Graffiti, apparently from the La Linea, or Juarez drug cartel, recently surfaced threatening federal police officers, accusing them of working for the rival Sinaloa cartel. The Norte newspaper reported that 14 federal officers have been slain in Juarez this year.
