Boy asks for police patches to give to fallen Utah cop’s sons

In the wake of Utah Trooper Eric Ellsworth’s death, a boy is asking for help in providing the trooper’s three sons with a special gift

SOUTH PERRY, Utah — On Nov. 22, Utah Trooper Eric Ellsworth passed away from injuries he suffered when he was struck by a vehicle.

Since then, his three sons, Bennett, Ian and Oliver, have been struggling to make sense of their father’s death.

When Bennett’s best friend Logan went to the viewing, he noticed officers had brought along police patches to give to Bennett. Logan saw how proud Bennett was of the patches and decided to take action.

Logan now has a mission to bring happiness and healing by collecting as many patches as he can as a gift for Bennett and his two brothers.

“My son would love to collect as many patches from around the nation as he can to surprise Bennett and his two brothers,” Logan’s mom Angie Cefalo told Police1. “My son has been struggling with a way to understand all of this and I think this will help both Bennett and Logan heal.”
