BELLEVILLE, Ill. — The widow of St. Louis County Officer Blake Synder, thanked the St. Louis and national community over the weekend for their support in a heartbreaking Facebook post.

Elizabeth Snyder wrote that although the pain hasn’t subsided, she finds a reason to get up every day — her son Malachi.

“He is the reason I get up each day. The reason I keep it together as best I can,” she wrote. “The reason I push through. Malachi has been more cuddly and more attached than ever before and I couldn’t be more thankful for it.”

She wrote the support she’s received from all over the United States and the St. Louis community keeps her going as well.

“Although this suffering seems never ending, the outpouring of love and support from the Saint Louis community (and all over the nation) has been overwhelming,” the post read.

Elizabeth wrote that because of the support, Malachi will “always know who his father was.”

“He is my peace and my anchor during this devastating storm.”
