NASSAU COUNTY, N.Y. — Nassau County and federal law enforcement agencies announced yesterday that they had rounded up and arrested about two dozen young people they said are members and associates of street gangs on charges that include drug sales, gun possession and witness intimidation.

Eight members of the Rolling 60’s Crip Gang, a Roosevelt area sect of the Crips, were arrested March 19 as part of an investigation by the Nassau police, the FBI and the Nassau district attorney’s office, officials said.

The same agencies coordinated an investigation and the arrest Thursday of 15 members of the Latin Kings gang on state and federal charges, officials said.

Those arrested and said to be members of the Rolling 60’s are:

Aaron Halyard, 21, and Hesekia McConneghey, 20, both of Uniondale; and Eric Smith, 21, Terrell Clinkscaleas, 19, Tyshawn Gitto, 16, Johnathon Green, 22, Marvin McNeil, 20, and Rommel Lobban, 22, all of Roosevelt.

A ninth person who is a juvenile whose name was not released was also arrested with this group, police said.

Those arrested on state charges and said by Nassau police to be members of the Latin Kings are:

Eddie Velez, 29, of Brooklyn; Carlos Andujar, 23, and Robert Rosario, 25, both of Freeport; Danny Rodriquez, 31, of Island Park; Omar Palomino, 27, of Lakeview; Ryan Callahan, 28, of Lynbrook; Frank Beltran, 22, and Fernando Beltran, 23, both of Long Beach; and Junion Estevez, 28, of Manhattan.

Six other suspects associated with the Latin Kings were arrested on federal charges, police said, but their identities were not available yesterday.

All were arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead.

More details concerning the arrests and charges are to be made available today in a news conference in Mineola, police said.
