Like most officers, you pretty much bank on not getting a ticket when you meet a fellow officer on the road. That is because you take out your wallet to get your license and your badge is conviently displayed, generating a bonding momement.
On the down side, you are out to dinner with your significant other and as you’re sitting there, a thug walks in to get some quick cash. “Put your wallets on the table!” he demands. You throw your wallet on the table and of course your ticket insurance is prominently displayed, thereby earning you a chance to win a bullet to the head.
Why not carry two wallets, one with all your civilian identification and one with your badge and department ID. It only takes a short while to get used to it. Try it. You will live longer.
