Chicago officer wounds driver who had 2 guns

CHICAGO - A Chicago police officer fired at a man in a car and wounded him in the leg early Sunday on the South Side, police said.

The shooting happened about 4:15 a.m. in the 400 block of East 29th Place, said Officer John Henry, a spokesman.

The Independent Police Review Authority was looking into the details, said Ilana Rosenzweig, chief administrator of the new agency that reviews police shootings.

It appears the wounded man is in his 20s, she said. He was the only occupant of the car he was driving, she said.

Two guns were recovered, Rosenzweig said, but she would not give details about them or where they were found.
