JERSEY VILLAGE, Tex. — Jersey Village police officers fatally shot a man late Wednesday night whom they say pointed a pistol at them as he tried to get into his ex-wife’s home.

Five officers spent about 15 minutes trying to get Frank Hubac, 56, to drop his gun before he pointed it at the officers and they fired at Hubac, the Harris County Sheriff’s Department reported.

“The man at one point had to gun to his own head,” said sheriff’s homicide investigator Sgt. Bryan Pair.

Hubac’s ex-wife called Jersey Village police at about 10:20 p.m., Pair said.

“When units arrived, they found a male in the backyard with a hand gun,” Pair said outside the shooting scene in the 15500 block of Jersey Drive.

“They tried to talk him out of the gun,” Pair said. “He refused and pointed the gun at the officers. That’s when the officer fired.”

Hubac died at the scene, Pair said.

According to Harris County property records, the home at which the shooting took place belongs to Eva Hubac. Frank Hubac is not listed as an owner.

Harris County records do not include a divorce case involving Eva and Frank Hubac. They do include a 1998 case showing Frank Hubac divorcing another woman.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office and and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office are investigating.
