BETHANY, Mo. — Harrison County Sheriff’s Deputy Steven “Brett” Hawkins suffered a fatal heart attack after an emergency call, Officer Down Memorial Page reported.
Hawkins, 34, had responded to a call on Sept. 13 that involved a search of a residence and surrounding property. He had the heart attack several hours after returning home from his shift.
Hawkins started his career at the Bethany Police Department and had served with the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office since Aug. 2012, the department’s press release said.
He was the D.A.R.E. Officer for all of the schools in the county.
He is survived by his wife, daughter and three sons.
