INDIANAPOLIS — An 11-year-old boy received a massive surprise from his heroes when he was released from the hospital Thursday.
For the last three months, Drake Price has been battling a baseball-sized brain tumor, Fox 59 reported. Price’s family said throughout his stay, he would tell everyone he loved law enforcement and wanted to be a police officer when he gets older.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department heard Price was going to be released and surprised him with a full police escort, police patches and a hat with pins from different departments, the news station reported.
Price rode in the front seat of the cruiser while the department escorted him home.
“The coming home party was overwhelming and had us speechless,” Miles Price, Drake’s dad, told Inside Edition. “We are so thankful from the love and support and prayers … from Drake’s brothers in blue.”
Drake will return to the hospital in a month for a surgery unrelated to his tumor.
