BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. — Video captured the moment a pair of Boynton Beach police officers delivered a surprise Christmas tree to a financially-struggling family.
WPBF reports a 911 misdial by a toddler on Saturday resulted in Officers Barry Ward and Terrence Paramore being dispatched to a home and discovering the family living there did not have a Christmas tree.
Seven-year-old Rachelle Daceus explained to the officers that the struggling family wasn’t able to purchase a tree for the holiday season.
Officers Ward and Paramore returned to the residence the following day with a surprise: a Christmas tree, lights and ornaments.
According to ABC News, the pair spent around $100 out-of-pocket for the items.
“A 911 call leads to a tree! Very exciting! I called them right away to say thank you,’” Shirley Deceus told WPBF.
After a news segment on the family’s reaction aired, a local resident donated a $100 gift card to the Boynton Police Department to stock gifts under the family’s tree.
