LEBANON, Pa. — A 31-year-old South Carolina man was arrested on multiple charges early Tuesday after leading state police on a wild pursuit on Interstate 78 that ended with his being subdued by a TASER.
The incident started at 2:46 a.m. when Donnell Corthroy Greene of Rock Hill was pulled over on suspicion of speeding in the westbound lane, near mile marker 3.1 in Swatara Township, state police at Jonestown said. As Greene was being investigated for suspicion of driving under the influence, he managed to return to his car, a 1998 Lexus GS300, and speed off.
During the pursuit, police said, Greene turned off his headlights, police said. He then lost control of the car near mile marker 1.1, and it crossed the median into the eastbound lane, where it was struck by a pickup truck. The crash injured Greene’s passenger, Sherise Juanita Mason, 31, also of Rock Hill.
Police did not provide details about the driver of the pickup.
Mason was treated in the emergency room of the Good Samaritan Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said. Her condition was not available Tuesday night.
After the crash, Greene struggled briefly with a trooper, who subdued him with a TASER, police said.
Greene was charged with aggravated assault by a vehicle while driving under the influence, fleeing police, driving under the influence, recklessly endangering another person, resisting arrest, causing an accident involving damage to an attended vehicle or property, driving in the wrong lane, driving the wrong way on a divided highway, speeding, driving without lights to avoid police, careless driving, driving at an unsafe speed and reckless driving, police said.
He was in Lebanon County prison Tuesday night, prison officials said.
