GASTONIA, N.C. — A picture going viral from residents in Gastonia shows a pale cloaked figure appearing from a wooded area, WBTV reported.
Several residents took pictures and uploaded them to social media after the suspect was spotted outside an apartment complex dressed in a dark cloak. According to social media posts, the cloaked person reportedly left raw meat near a playground at the complex.

Department spokesperson Donna Lahser told the publication that Police are investigating the issue and have met with the apartment complex’s manager. However, they have not confirmed whether the pictures were taken at the location described in the social media posts.
“It could have come from anywhere,” Lahser told the news site. “We don’t know if this is some bogus prank someone is playing.”
Resident Brooke Conard told Gaston Gazette if these pictures are real, she fears for her daughter’s safety.
“I see why it could be easy to make a joke out of it, but this is serious. We live in a world today where you don’t know what’s going on and you don’t know people,” she told the publication.
Residents were asked to call the police if a suspicious person shows up.
