TUMWATER, Wash. — Police in Washington discovered a 6-year-old boy’s body in a home Tuesday afternoon after investigating a couple found dead in a car after a morning high-speed chase.
Police spokesman Ed Troyer says the boy’s 10-year-old sister was later found safe in Redmond, Ore., with her biological father.
Washington State Patrol troopers say the man in the car was fleeing from a trooper when he shot himself in the head after his car spun out on Interstate 5 at Tumwater.
Troopers found the body of a woman passenger in the car. The Thurston County coroner says she had been shot in the head. It was not clear when she was shot or by whom.
Authorities went to the couple’s Spanaway home to check on the children and discovered the boy’s body.
