SUMMERVILLE, N.C. — Recently released dash cam footage shows an officer getting dragged by a motorist during a traffic stop, leaving the LEO with minor injuries.
On Wednesday, a Summerville officer, identified as R. Gayhart, pulled over 57-year-old Timothy Sledziona after he went too far past a stop sign, the Charlotte Observer reported. Sledziona is heard on video arguing with Gayhart and curses at the him after the officer asks for his driver’s license and registration.
Sledziona then starts driving away with Gayhart on the passenger side running board. The officer shouts “stop right now or I’ll shoot you” as the SUV speeds out of the dash cam view.

Gayhart fell from the vehicle 100 or more feet down the road before discharging his firearm, police said. Neighbors rushed to the officer’s aid, including a man who returned items that fell off the officer as he was being dragged.
Police said Gayhart suffered minor injuries that required hospitalization.
Sledziona was later arrested at his home and charged with assault and battery of high and aggravated nature. He appeared in court and apologized, saying he regretted the incident, according to WCIV.
