LAWRENCE, Kan. — Everyone has their opinions about the presidential candidates and the upcoming election. But some residents in Kansas are taking things a step too far: They’re reaching out to 911 to complain.
The Lawrence Police Department tweeted Monday before the first presidential debate that they realize “politics can make emotions run high, but being mad at a presidential candidate in a debate is NOT a reason to call 911.”
REMINDER
We realize politics can make emotions run high, but being mad at a presidential candidate in a debate is NOT a reason to call 911.— Lawrence Police (@LawrenceKS_PD) September 26, 2016
According to KFSM, the department hasn’t released exact numbers on how many people called 911 or what solutions the individuals wanted.
The department also warned against binge drinking during the debate, advising the community that drinking every time someone says “yuge” may be a poor health decision.
Additionally, drinking games where you drink every time someone says “yuge” leads to binge drinking, and we discourage that strongly
