Lake Station, Mich. (AP) -- Michigan police officers today found a 15-year-old girl from northwestern Indiana who had been the subject of a statewide Amber Alert.
Jessica Ottomanelli was found uninjured about 4 a.m. today in Lake Station, Mich. when officers stopped a car matching the description of the one driven by her alleged abductor, police said. The man driving the car was arrested.
The alert was issued Sunday night for Ottomanelli, who police said was abducted that day in Gary, Ind. by a man in his 30s and believed to be in extreme danger.
Ottomanelli and a girlfriend got into the man’s car when he stopped them in a Lake Station park and asked for directions, police said.
They then drove to Gary, where the girlfriend was able to escape and call police. Information on the alleged abductor and whether he faced criminal charges was not immediately available from Lake Station police.
