From staff reports
Allen County Prosecutor Karen Richards said Monday the July 19 police-action shooting of Rudy Escobedo in a downtown apartment building was justified, and no charges will be filed.
Police shot and killed Escobedo after they stormed his apartment, where he had barricaded himself for several hours. Richards said investigations by the Indiana State Police and Fort Wayne Police Department indicated he was holding a loaded .45 caliber pistol to his head when officers entered the apartment, then lowered the weapon and pointed it toward them.
The officers were reasonable in fearing for their lives, Richards said.
