STERLING, Va. — Body cam footage shows a sheriff’s deputy in Virginia responding to a call about a man who said he was fouled hard during a pickup basketball game.
On Monday, a Loudoun County Sheriff’s deputy responded to an LA fitness after receiving a report about an assault at the gym, WTTG-TV reported. A witness said the man who called police was being blocked by an opposing player wearing shooting sleeves, which resulted in the man falling to the floor.
“No punches were thrown. Nothing,” the witness, who didn’t want to be identified, said. “It wasn’t malicious. No hits to the face or anything like that.”
Brandon Brazelton, who committed the alleged hard foul, told WTTG-TV on Thursday that the man became furious afterward and threatened to call police. He said everyone in the gym thought he was joking until the deputy arrived.
According to the 911 call, a front desk worker at the gym told the dispatcher that a gym member alleged he was assaulted on the basketball court.
While talking to the two men, the deputy asked the man who called police if he wanted to press charges, which he declined to do.
“So what do you want me to do?” the deputy can be heard on video asking.

The man said Brazelton should be kicked out of the gym for the rest of the day. A gym employee said either both men should leave or stay and move on. In the end, both men returned to the court, Brazelton said.
The confrontation was posted on social media and went viral. A witness who recorded the incident is heard asking the LEO if he’s ever responded to a basketball foul.
“This is my first basketball foul,” said the deputy, who added that he thought he was responding to a fight.
