SOUTH HILL, Va. — An officer responding to a gas leak took the opportunity to reach out to a few kids in the community.
South Hill Police Officer C.B. Fleming, 42, spotted two girls playing dolls in the street near the apartment he was responding to for a potential gas leak, WTKR reports. After checking the area to make sure it was safe, he decided to lay down on the sidewalk to play dolls with the girls.
The mother of one of the girls, 28-year-old Iesha Roper-Boswell, recorded a video of the interaction and shared it on Facebook. The video has garnered over 10,000 views.
“People need the positivity,” Roper-Boswell told WTKR. “I was telling him that my daughter, my niece, and some of the other children here were afraid of cops. So when he came and played with them, I captured that moment, not because I thought it would go viral, but it was amazing that my niece didn’t break out into tears.”
