BANGKOK — Police in Thailand received a tip that drugs were hidden in cars they had confiscated over a year ago, said the Associated Press this morning.
They had seized the vehicles in May 2010 from an auto theft suspect but only just uncovered the 1.13 million methamphetamine pills from several hidden compartments inside the cars, said Senior narcotics police officer Lt. Gen. Atithep Patjamanon.
The Office of the Narcotics Control Board said 14 million methamphetamine pills were seized from January to April this year. That’s compared to 51.6 million for all of 2010 and 27.4 million in 2009.
