TAUNTON, Mass. — Massachusetts State Police say an assailant stabbed two people at a home and then crashed a motor vehicle through a storefront at a mall and stabbed two other people.
Police say the assailant was shot at the mall in Taunton by an off-duty law enforcement officer.
Officials say injuries to some of the victims in the attacks Tuesday may be life-threatening. All were taken to area hospitals.
State police say the assailant may also have been involved in an earlier car crash on the street where the first stabbings took place.
Taunton is about 40 miles south of Boston. Several police agencies have responded to the crime scenes.
