New York — New York Police Department busted ‘True Bosses Only a.k.a. Team Bang Out’ (TBO) gang with the help of social media.

New York City Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly and Kings County District Attorney Hynes announced that with the help of social media this week they took down 41 members of a gang in Bushwick, Brooklyn.

The Commissioner said, “Once again we have young gang members using social media to boast about murder and chaos, and once again we have New York City Police officers ‘friending’ them to help ending the violence. When young men plot to take their battles from tweets to the streets, the NYPD wants to be there to stop the bloodshed. The attention is paying off.” Brooklyn News Corp reported.

Officers involved in the operation created fake profiles on Facebook and twitter and “friended” members of the TBO gang then tracked their actions on the social networking sites. According to the DA, gang members often show off on social media about committing crimes. Published by HT Syndication with permission from The News Tribe.
