NEW YORK — An NYPD sergeant died Saturday after suffering an apparent medical episode while on duty.

NYPost.com reported that Sgt. Ryan Kenny, an 18-year veteran, was discovered unconscious and unresponsive inside a third-floor locker room at NYPD’s 50th Precinct station house. Officials said Kenny, who was transported by EMS to a hospital, died of a possible heart attack.

He was pronounced dead at the hospital. Less than an hour later, the NYPD lost another member – Det. Shantay Neal-Baker, a 20-year veteran – to COVID-19 complications.

“Please keep their family, friends and colleagues in your thoughts and prayers,” NYPD Chief of Detectives Rodney Harrison said.
