LOS ANGELES — A blood drive was held Monday for a veteran Los Angeles Police Department motorcycle officer who remained in a medically-induced coma after he was hit by an alleged DUI driver.
The officer, a father and 26-year veteran of the force, has undergone two surgeries since the crash, with another expected Monday at Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills.
“He’s a good family man, just a great guy, well liked my everyone,” said one man who donated blood. Monday’s drive was held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with wait times of up to two hours due to the high turnout.
