A Denton police motorcycle officer was taken by CareFlite helicopter to a Dallas hospital Wednesday afternoon after a collision with a car that pulled out of a service station driveway.

Officer Chris Plank’s condition had not been released Wednesday evening. He was being assessed in the emergency room at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, said police spokesman Officer Jim Bryan.

Bryan said Plank was northbound in the left lane on Dallas Drive about 4:30 p.m.

A Chevrolet sedan pulled out of the private driveway, he said, into the path of Plank’s police motorcycle.

“He pulled out in front of Plank and he hit him,” Bryan said. “The Chevrolet failed to yield to traffic and the driver was cited for that.”

The driver of the sedan was not injured, the spokesman said.

Police shut down Dallas Drive, snarling rush-hour traffic, to allow the helicopter to land.
