ST. LOUIS — Authorities issued warrants Saturday against a man who was shot during a struggle with police in north St. Louis.
Laderrell Smith, 44, faces charges of second-degree burglary, attempting to disarm an officer, third-degree assault/attempted assault on an officer and resisting/interfering with arrest.
According to St. Louis police, an officer spotted Smith on the property of his neighbor’s residence in the 5200 block of Lexington on Friday.
Police said during a struggle over the officer’s weapon, the officer fired several shots, striking Smith once in the hip.
Smith was transported to the hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.
The officer, who was not injured, was placed on administrative leave per department policy.
Smith’s bond has been set at $45,000.
