KATY, Texas — A Katy Independent School District officer has an additional title to add to her resume: Miss Texas United States.
Officer Shannon Dresser has competed in pageants since she was a child and took the crown Saturday at the competition, ABC 13 reported.
Dresser, whose parents are both retired LAPD officers, credits her police training to her pageant success.
“You train for the unexpected. You train for the worst and hope for the best in any situation,” she told ABC 13. “Talking to people. I can talk to anyone, talk people down.”
In addition to competing in pageants and protecting Katy schools, Dresser mentors young people and attends many community policing events.
“You can do anything that you want to do,” she said. “I’m not just Officer Dresser and I’m not just Miss Katy. I’m both. I’m Shannon.”
