DEL RIO, Texas — A U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent died on Saturday while working in Texas.

According to a Border Patrol press release, Agent Donna Doss, 49, was assisting Texas Troopers near Interstate 20 in Abilene. While one scene, she was struck and killed by a passing vehicle.

“Agent Doss died while performing her duty, protecting the community and the United States. Our heart, prayers, and support go out to Agent Doss’ family in this time of need,” said Del Rio Sector Acting Chief Patrol Agent Matthew Hudak.

Doss served as an agent for more than 15 years.
