CICERO, Ill. — The acting police chief for the Hawthorne Park District Police Department of Ill. died of a heart attack Sunday after responding to a disturbance call.
Chief Nick Colabufo, 52, collapsed on the scene and died a short time later, according to ODMP.
Colabufo had served as a part-time officer with Hawthorne Park for several years, as well as the Cook County Sheriff’s Office for 30 years, where he held the rank of Assistant Chief at the time of his passing.
