NACOGDOCHES, Texas — A Texas sheriff’s deputy was struck and killed Friday morning while removing debris from the middle of a highway, the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.
Deputy Raymond Jimmerson was responding to a call to remove a traffic hazard from a highway around 6:45 a.m. when he was struck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jimmerson was a 19-year veteran of the Nacogdoches Sheriff’s Office and a 20-year law enforcement veteran.
“Deputy Jimmerson was a beloved member of our community and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He served our community with distinction and honor. He will leave behind a deep void within our law enforcement family and community,” wrote Nacogdoches County Sheriff Jason Bridges.
