OCALA, Fla. — A tip from an informant led to two arrests that may have thwarted a series of planned attacks.
The Orlando Sentinel reports the arrests and a raid that uncovered a cache of weapons began after an informant told police that the suspects intended to carry out a series of attacks on a church, youth camp, and the Eustis Police Department.
32-year-old Christopher Conger and 29-year-old Jeremy Robertson were arrested Friday during a raid. Police seized 22 guns, containers of black powder, body armor, and drugs from the site. Both suspects face multiple charges.
Although the informant told police the attacks were to be carried out with a rocket-propelled grenade launcher, officers did not find one at the scene. They are currently searching for a third person of interest in connection to the plot.
“There is some sophistication to this outfit,” sheriff’s Maj. Terry Bovaird told the Orlando Sentinel. “This isn’t like somebody found a joint somewhere and a guy had a small, little weapon. This is something that is significant.”
