GREENE COUNTY, Mo. — Police attempted to take Joshua Ford into custody Dec. 1 when a deputy thought he saw a gun, and Ford, with a sweater covering his hands, acted as if he had a gun. The deputy shot Ford three times.

Tension is obvious in the video, with deputies screaming for Ford to obey their commands and positioning themselves to fire — or to move out of his possible firing sights — as Ford appears to be taking shooting stances and refusing to follow their orders.

“Corporal [Michael] Hurney continued to provide Ford with loud and clear commands to Ford to comply with us and he also attempted to continue to reason with Ford,” a report reads. “However Ford continued to refuse to follow any commands or listen to any reason.”
