BOSTON — A man who ran from a South End traffic stop yesterday and then pulled a gun on cops was shot and killed when he refused to drop the weapon, police said.
Cops stopped a late model Cadillac on Harcourt Street yesterday at about 5:47 p.m., police said. Boston Police Commissioner Edward F. Davis said two officers chased the driver when he exited the car and started running.
The officers chased the man onto Yarmouth Street, where he pulled out a gun, according to Davis. The officers ordered the man to drop the weapon and, when he didn’t, one fired at him once, Davis said.
The suspect, who was not identified, was taken to Boston Medical Center, were he was pronounced dead.
Davis said police are interviewing several witnesses and have videotapes taken from nearby surveillance cameras.
‘We are pursuing all avenues of investigation here,’ Davis said.
