PERTH AMBOY, N.J. — The Perth Amboy man who shot and killed a woman and injured three others in a quiet neighborhood Saturday fatally shot himself in the neck as a police officer fired at him, authorities said.

An autopsy showed that Edwin Cordero Jr., 27, died from the self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce Kaplan.

Cordero was also hit by five rounds fired by Perth Amboy Officer Ganagioti Bouleris, although none of the bullets hit vital organs, Kaplan said.

The early morning shooting — in which Cordero opened fire at a parked car and people standing nearby— is still under investigation, he said.

Fabia Aguilar, 26, of Plainfield, described by authorities as an acquaintance of Cordero’s, was found dead inside the car with 12 wounds from his Tec-9 handgun.

Two of the other people Cordero shot remain hospitalized Sunday. The third was treated and released for a gunshot wound to the leg.
