CHICAGO — One person was killed, and five others, including two Chicago police officers, injured in an overnight traffic crash on the city’s Southeast Side.
The accident happened about midnight Wednesday in the 9200 block of South Paxton Avenue, said Eve Rodriguez, a Chicago Fire Department spokeswoman.
Eric Gray, 21, of the 2200 block of East 92nd Street, was pronounced dead at 3:45 a.m. at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Police said the officers suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Three civilians were taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital and Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, but the severity of their injuries was not immediately known.
Chicago police said the officers were in their squad car, and Gray was a passenger in the other vehicle involved in the crash.
