About Charles Remsberg

Charles Remsberg is the author of three best-selling books that have changed the face of law enforcement training and officer safety: Street Survival, The Tactical Edge and Tactics for Criminal Patrol. These books, with more than 300,000 copies in circulation, are widely used as training texts in college criminal justice courses and law enforcement training academies. The award-winning textbooks describe how officers can protect themselves physically, legally and emotionally when dealing with high-risk individuals and situations. Two of the books have been cited before the U.S. Supreme Court as representing the standard by which modern, responsible law enforcement training should be judged.

Remsberg is also the co-founder and co-owner of Calibre Press, Inc. (founded 1979), then the leading independent producer of training materials for law enforcement personnel, serving agencies and individual officers in more than 50 countries. Additionally, he was the co-founder, co-producer, instructor and scriptwriter of the Street Survival Seminar, which has trained more than 200,000 municipal, county, state, federal and special law enforcement officers in appearances throughout the U.S. and Canada, attracting attendees from as far away as Russia, England and Japan.

Resmberg is the associate producer of half a dozen award-winning instructional video productions for law enforcement, including: Deadly Force Decisions I & II, Surviving Edged Weapons, Hostage Officer Survival and Ultimate Survivors. These are believed to be the best-selling training videos ever produced for law enforcement.

Moreover, Remsberg was the co-founder, editor and writer of the first electronic newsletter for law enforcement, the Street Survival Newsline, which reaches more than 105,000 officers and agencies in 28 countries.

A member of the national advisory board for the Force Science Research Center and a trustee of Americans for Effective Law Enforcement, Remsberg received the O.W. Wilson Award for outstanding contributions to law enforcement from the American Criminal Justice Association in 1993. That year, he also received the American Police Hall of Fame Honor Award for distinguished achievement in public service.

Remsberg is currently a senior correspondent for Police1.com, the world’s leading law enforcement training and information web site.
