PHOENIX — A longtime Arizona trooper gave an emotional goodbye to his colleagues during his final radio call.

Arizona DPS Trooper Mark Gilberg signed off last week after completing 37 years of service with the department, WKRG reports. Video of the officer wiping away tears as he said goodbye to the force has gone viral.

“Badge 2988 began his career March 11th, 1981...this will be my final 10-7,” Gilberg said.

“10-4 you’re making me cry too. Did everybody copy that?,” dispatch responded.

Gilberg thanked his colleagues and the department for “everything that they’ve ever done” and said that it had been “an honor and a privilege and a great career.”

“It’s been a great adventure. I thank everybody that has ever helped me,” Gilberg said. “Thank you very much and keep smiling.”

Bart Graves, Arizona DPS spokesman, told AZ Family that Gilberg is the longest-serving Arizona DPS trooper and described the LEO as a “workhorse.”
