BALTIMORE — A Baltimore officer was on patrol when she saw some suspicious activity around a vacant house and went to investigate, the department posted on Facebook.

During her investigation, Officer Ashley Acord found a puppy inside the home with its leash tied to a doorknob, The Baltimore Sun reported. The dog seemed to be abandoned so Acord took the animal to the shelter.

After three days when the dog was not claimed, Acord filled out the paperwork to adopt the dog. She named the 10-month-old pup Grayson.

He is now living in his new home with the officer and a post of their happy ending went viral on Facebook.

“I had a dog growing up. I’ve watched my friend’s dog on and off, and I’ve always been an animal lover, specifically for dogs,” Acord told the publication.

The department uploaded photos of the officer and her new canine companion which garnered over 4,000 reactions and hundreds of supportive comments.
