Doctors originally gave him a 1 percent chance to live

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. — Over three months ago, Detective Dan Brite was shot on duty by a suicidal man.

Originally, doctors gave Brite a 1 percent chance of survival, according to the department’s Facebook. But he was released from the hospital Thursday, six months earlier than expected.

Fellow first responders lined the streets to welcome him and his family home.

“Dan is still paralyzed and unable to move his legs, but he says he believes in miracles and he will do everything in his power to ensure that he does walk again some day,” the post read.
