“I may pass out,” said Reedy, 27. “I’ve never tried to walk eight hours on a treadmill, but it’s going to be for a good cause.”
The Marietta Police Department is one of 13 agencies throughout the state participating in the fund-raiser.
The Cobb County Police Department will be at Town Center at Cobb in Kennesaw from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. while the Kennesaw Police Department will be at the Big Shanty Festival in downtown Kennesaw.
Marietta police Deputy Chief Billy Grogran asked Reedy to volunteer. She runs three or four times a week, usually 4 or 5 miles at a time.
“He knows I love to run, so I’m probably the first person that popped in his head,” said Reedy, a 5 1/2-year veteran of the force in Zone 1 (Franklin Road, Delk Road). “Everybody sees me around town running.”
What about the speed of the treadmill? Even at a low setting like 3 mph, that’s 24 miles.
“I have no idea,” Reedy said. “Actually, I’m sure if I say something they don’t like, they’ll speed it up.
“I’m just praying for good weather.”
