WEST PALM BEACH — A 34-year-old man tried to pull a gun on a police officer and then tried to run him over with the rental car he fled in, according to an arrest report.
Police spotted Cedric Paulk passing what appeared to be crack cocaine on Tamarind Avenue Sunday afternoon, the report says. Paulk fled and pulled a black bandana over his face, according to the report.
After a winding pursuit, Paulk finally stopped at an abandoned building, the report says, and began reaching for a revolver in his waistband as officers approached. One officer tried to break Paulk’s car window, but Paulk put the Buick in reverse and tried to run over the officer, the report says.
He crashed into a parked Dodge Durango and then ran south on Avenue O in Riviera Beach. Injured, he fell to the sidewalk but refused to put up his hands, the report says. One officer fired a Taser at Paulk, and another handcuffed him.
Police found a glue stick container filled with crack cocaine, six bags of cocaine, three bags of marijuana and a bag of oxycodone in Paulk’s pocket, the report says. They also found a .357 revolver on the driver’s seat of his car, according to the report.
He told police he did not want “to shoot it out,” just to escape, the report says.
Police arrested Paulk on a host of charges and took him to St. Mary’s Medical Center for treatment before booking him into the Palm Beach County Jail.
