CHICAGO — A cop Tasered himself in the finger as he tried to take down an alleged would-be burglar on Friday, prosecutors said.
Irene Bramwell, 56, was charged with aggravated battery to a police officer, resisting arrest and criminal trespass after the incident at a home on the 5500 block of South Nottingham.
Officers spotted a broken window, but when they tried to arrest Bramwell inside, she fought them with a chair, according to Assistant Cook County State’s Attorney Gina Vanasco. Despite being Tasered, she resisted and knocked a Taser prong into an officer’s pinkie before the Taser discharged into the cop, it’s alleged.
Both officers were treated at a hospital and released.
Bramwell was ordered held on bail of $40,000.
