LANCASTER, Pa. — Three Lancaster officers were honored Tuesday for using an AED to save a stroke victim.

A City Council meeting recognized Officers Ben Bradley, J. David Williams and Ryan Work for their work last Halloween, WGAL reported. That night Archie Tucker found his wife Lynne crumpled in her bathroom and said she appeared “anxious,” “scared” and “gasping for breath.”

The responding officers had a plan, and the 40-year-old was breathing again by the time EMTs arrived.

“Right away we knew who was doing chest compressions first, who was going to attach the pads for the AED, who was going to operate the AED,” Bradley said.

Tucker said he appreciates the officers’ quick, efficient — and ultimately life-saving — work.

“They did a fantastic job,” Tucker said. “The job they did is why she’s alive right now.”
