LIVERMORE, Calif. — A 5-year-old boy received a major surprise from the Livermore Police Department at his “cops and robbers” themed birthday party.
Nancy Larson planned the party for her son, Nick, who has “always been obsessed with everything police,” she told the Livermore Patch. They are a large law enforcement family, but after recently moving to the area, they did not know any of the officers.
Larson sent an email to the department asking if a police vehicle could stop by to surprise her son and his guests. She didn’t expect six patrol cars and a community service car to arrive in her driveway, the Patch reported. They even gifted Nick a police lego set with wrapping paper signed by the officers.
“There was a lull in calls for service and several day shift officers were able to surprise Nick,” Sgt. Steve Goard said. “It was really touching to see how excited the kids and the family were when we arrived … Although we only got to visit for just a little bit, it was a real treat for us and really made our day.”

Larson said the officers showed Nick their police equipment and gave him badge stickers and bike reflectors.
“It would have blown our mind just having one car stop by,” Larson said.
