ORLANDO, Fla. — Children at a Florida hospital received a special “goodnight” from several police officers.
WOFL reports that Orlando police continued their tradition of lining up outside the hospital and flashing their lights at the windows. The children inside the building then flash their own lights back at the officers as a way to say “goodnight” to each other.
The Orlando PD said the event means a lot to the officers involved.
The department was inspired to start the tradition after reading a story of a PD in Rhode Island doing a similar gesture, according to WKMG.
Police Chief John Mina said the OPD will continue the tradition every month at several Central Florida hospitals.
